HOPKINSVILLE, KY (WSMV) -

Severe storms caused some damage and injuries across the Midstate on Tuesday night.

Officials with the Western Kentucky State Fair say a few people were injured when powerful winds blew through the fairgrounds in Hopkinsville.

A controller for one of the rides at the fair was injured when the booth he was in blew over, but he is said to be doing fine.

Two people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries but are both said to be OK.

Officials have been inspecting the rides to make sure everything is operating correctly. The fair will open as scheduled at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

A tree also fell down on a home on Stanley Street in Hopkinsville.

Montgomery County dispatchers said they received reports of downed trees and power lines on Tuesday night, but no injuries were reported.
