Academically and athletically, their upward trajectory and momentum rivals any school in the country the past 15 years, nearly doubling their graduation rate and growing their athletic budget from five million to 86 million, while providing new facilities for every program, the newest an $18.5 million state-of-the art soccer stadium opening next month.
Louisville is one of only 52 universities to ever reach a $1 billion fundraising goal and the only one to ever win a BCS Bowl game, reach the College World Series and place both the men's and women's basketball teams in the NCAA Final Four in the same season, as they did two years ago.
This past year the Cards had 18 athletes drafted to professional sports leagues and in the last 10 years they've had 79 Fulbright scholars. Ten Cards teams, five men and five women, finished this past season ranked among the nation's top 25 and their 14 conference championships were the most in the nation.
With the addition of Louisville, the ACC this year will have five of the top 12 basketball programs in history, three of the last six men's basketball champs and four of the five active Hall of Fame coaches.
The defending national champion football team, the Florida State Seminoles, will play here on October 30.
The University of Louisville made Conference USA, The Big East Conference and the American Athletic Conference better the past 15 years, and they will do the same in the ACC.
And the academic and athletic competition in the ACC will make Louisville a better University.
