WALWORTH COUNTY, WI (WTMJ/CNN) - Police have identified the last of two women whose bodies were found stuffed in suitcases along a Wisconsin highway earlier in June.
A 52-year-old man faces charges in the case.
"In regards to the Steve Zelich investigation, the second victim's identity has been confirmed through forensic dental records as Jenny M. Gamez. Date of birth is 4/9/93 from Cottage Grove, OR,” said Undersheriff Kurt Picknell, Walworth County Sheriff’s Office. “As you know, charges were filed for two counts of hiding a corpse in Walworth County last week. Investigations are on-going concerning the deaths of the two females.”
Gamez disappeared from Oregon in 2012.
The second victim, identified as Laura Simonson, 37, of Minnesota, was reported missing in November.
A Wisconsin highway worker cutting the grass found the suitcases June 5.
Police say Zelich met the women online, bound and killed them and kept their bodies for months.
He has not yet been charged in their deaths.
Zelich is expected to appear in court in Wisconsin Friday.
