Plans are in place to build 36 new apartment units on a large piece of land off Sellers Street in Sebree.
The planning and zoning commission recently voted unanimously to re-zone the land to allow for the multi-family complex.
But those who live in the area say their neighborhood streets can't handle what would be a huge influx in traffic.
"I have not found a single person yet that wants this built," says Jana Forker.
Forker has lived on Sellers Street for 28 years and she says she worries about kids' safety.
"They ride their bicycles up and down the street here because there's no sidewalks as you can see. And I don't feel like they will be safe or even pedestrians that walk up and down these streets. It's going to be a big change for us here in Sebree."
Forker has started a petition to either move the apartment complex entrance or not build the units all together. So far she has over 200 signatures.
14News did reach out to the owner of the land, but he did not wish to comment at this time.
The Sebree City council will hold a meeting July 7th at 5:00 p.m. to decide whether to move forward with the project or not.
