NEAR PANAMA CITY, FL (WJHG/NBC) - Two retired Air Force F-101 Voodoo fighter jets have found a new home on the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico. The jets were placed 3.5 miles off the shoreline, 75 feet below the waves on the ocean floor.

The jets are the newest addition to Bay County, FL's reef system.

The jets went through extensive preparation, stripped of wiring and other potential pollutants.

Now that they're prepped and ready to go, divers can expect many new marine life to inhabit the area.
