LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Families in Jeffersontown now have a new way to keep cool this summer. City and state leaders gathered with neighborhood children for a grand opening ceremony of the new splash park at Skyview Park Monday afternoon.

The splash park boasts 26 water features for kids of all ages. Thanks to a new retention basin, the splash park is one of the first in the area to recycle used water.

"Through the recapture of the water we're able to water all the field in the facility for free," said Jeffersontown Mayor Bill Dieruf. "The rain water will go into the retention pond and be used to cover all the facilities in the area also."

The new splash park will be open seven days a week, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
