SARATOGA, NY (TWC News Albany/CNN) - A 100-year-old World War II veteran can finally say he's a high school graduate.
George Hulka Jr., who only made it to eighth grade, was drafted in 1941.
On Saturday, Hulka's great-grandson presented him with an honorary high school diploma. It was also his great-grandson's graduation day.
Hulka served as a combat infantryman in the Army. He was in the third wave of the D-Day invasion at Normandy.
After he came home from the service, he was busy raising a family.
Hulka's family says he was very excited to receive the diploma, and had never expected this day would come.
