(CNN) - Saturday marks 100 years since the chain of events began that started World War I.
The spark to the fuse for the global war happened here, in Sarajevo, June 28, 1914.
When Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand was shot dead by a Serbian nationalist, while he was visiting the Bosnian capital.
The assassin has become a divisive figure over time.
But the event is being remembered, in Bosnia-Herzegovina and in other nations that were pulled into what was soon called "The Great War."
