MOSCOW (CNN) - The Ukrainian government's unilateral cease-fire with pro-Russian separatists is being extended by another 72 hours.

Ukrainian media report President Petro Poroshenko made the decision after emergency talks with defense officials.

This comes just as the president signed a historic trade deal with the European Union.

A phone call between the leaders of France, Germany, and Ukraine is set for Sunday.

And Russian President Vladimir Putin is also scheduled to join in.
