An Evansville teen was arrested Tuesday and is being charged with attempted murder.
Evansville Police say 17-year-old Claudia DeTalente is being charged as an adult after an investigation of an early morning knife attack.
Police say emergency crews were dispatched to the 800 block of E. Delaware at 4:25 Tuesday morning for a report of a man bleeding heavily from his neck.
Officers say they found 22-year-old Quaevion Emerson with a large cut wound on his neck.
They believe a box cutter that was found nearby was used to cut Emerson.
EPD says others inside the house thought Emerson may have cut himself, but officers believed the wounds were not self-inflicted.
While officers were still at the house, police say DeTalente turned herself in.
EPD says DeTalente told an officer at the EPD West Sector Office that she was involved in the incident.
She was detained and later taken to a hospital for an unrelated health matter.
Investigators believe DeTalente cut Emerson's throat while he was sleeping. DeTalente told investigators she was mad at him because he was involved in a physical relationship with her girlfriend.
DeTalente will be taken to the Vanderburgh County Jail when she is released from the hospital.
Emerson's condition is unknown.
