After over a year of planning, work to revitalize Henderson's East End could begin next week.
City officials tell 14 News there will be a groundbreaking at the park on Letcher and Elm Streets.
Funding for the project comes from a Land and Water Conservation Fund, Fiscal court, and the city's general fund.
City engineers have been leveling the property in preparation for construction to begin.
"Now that park is going to have a really nice front, we're going to put up a couple of light poles eventually. They're just going to make that whole area look really nice," says Henderson engineer assistant, Dylan Ward.
The date of next weeks groundbreaking is yet to be determined. The city is waiting to hear back from the state for the go-ahead.
