JEFFERSONVILLE, IN (WAVE) - The Jeffersonville Redevelopment Commission voted unanimously to approve a loan for O'Shea's newest location on Tuesday.

The restaurant will be located next to Schimpff's Confectionery and Perkfection Cafe on Spring Street.

This is just the latest restaurant set to move in since the opening of the Big Four Bridge in Jeffersonville and Mayor Mike Moore says he is excited for the new development.

Even on an overcast Tuesday, the Big Four Bridge had its share of traffic. Since the opening of the Indiana ramp in May Jeffersonville has welcomed new visitors, like Pat Hammer and her grandchildren. This is the first time Hammer, a lifelong St. Matthews resident, had spent time in Jeffersonville.

"This is great," Hammer said. "You walk across the bridge you get your exercise. You have all these little stores and shops to look at."

She's not the only one from Louisville wanting to see what this river city is all about.

O'Shea's Irish Pub has been located in the Highlands since the mid 1990s. In 2010 owners opened Patrick O'Shea's on Main Street. Since then the company has been trying to figure out a third spot. Once the Big Four Bridge opened up, owners starting to eye Indiana.

"It was something that just took off really quickly and so we were able to see at the get go how much it was going to impact downtown Jeffersonville," said Amie Milby, O'Shea's Operations Manager.

A huge renovation will be in the works and developers will make sure to preserve the facade.

"It's going to be more a condensed version of O'Shea's, smaller concept and we are really going to focus on what our big sellers are, which is our fish and chips and our burgers," said Milby.

O'Shea's is just one of a number of new restaurants moving in and opening up in Jeffersonville. Like Olive Leaf Bistro on Riverside and the soon to be Indianapolis based Flat 12 Bierworks right next door.

"It's moves like this that really makes you feel like you are a doing it right," said Moore.

The owners of O'Shea's want the Indiana location to be family orientated, complete with outdoor seating.

They hope to open by March of 2015.
