Evansville Day School says its graduating seniors received $1.8-million in merit scholarships.
There are just 11 students in that class.
Interim Head of School Mary-Jane Gibson says the scholarships will be applied to enrollment at schools including the University of Evansville, Indiana University and schools in California and Texas.
Gibson says college prep courses, early specialization, and smaller class sizes are key to the school's ongoing success.
"Teachers that teach here have been here for a long time," said Gibson. "They could go to other schools, where they may make more money, but they choose to stay here, because they like that relationship that they have with the students. And I think that says a lot about what kind of school this is. And I'm very proud to be here, as I know this faculty is."
