Kevin Harned’s forecast has a slow increase in storm chances

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - It appears one more hot day in the low 90s looks to be on tap, then we will face more clouds and storms as we close out the week and head into the weekend.

In the short term, there will be storms moving in from the north later tonight that will fade toward sunrise. Our northern counties may see a fading shower from this. More scattered storms may pop in the afternoon Thursday, otherwise another hot day in the low 90s with heat indicies rising back into the mid and upper 90s.

Storm coverage will increase a bit more Friday early and again late in the day with highs around 90. Storms will continue to pass through over the weekend, but we are not expecting a washout. The heat may temporarily return early next week before a more potent wave of rainfall moves in about a week from today.

FORECAST
Tonight: Isolated early evening downpours, otherwise muggy.
Low: 74

Thursday: Hazy sunshine, a risk for scattered thunderstorms.
High: 93

Friday: Mostly cloudy, scattered thunderstorms possible.
High: 90
