BLOOMINGDALE, IN (AP) - Police say a 27-year-old hiker died after reportedly collapsing in a western Indiana creek.
Indiana Conservation Officers say John Androusky of Rockville was hiking with a friend in the Sugar Creek Conservation Area of Parke County.
The friend told officers that Androusky swam across the creek and back and was standing near the water's edge when he collapsed on Monday.
Conservation Officer Max Winchell says divers recovered Androusky's body about an hour after the friend called for help. His body was found in about 8 feet of water upstream of the Jackson Covered Bridge near the town of Bloomingdale, some 25 miles north of Terre Haute.
Winchell says an autopsy is planned to determine the cause of death.
