TAMPA, FL, June 17, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- During the 2014 New York International Auto Show, Nissan introduced an interesting new technology. Using the 2014 Nissan Rogue as a test model, the automaker installed its latest and all-new device called Smart Rearview Mirror. Ferman Nissan of Tampa is eager to share the news, as it will provide future Nissan drivers with a clear and undisturbed view when looking in the rearview mirror. (1)

Nissan's new Smart Rearview Mirror technology combines the use of a camera placed under the liftgate spoiler, along with an LCD rearview mirror inside the vehicle. Although the Smart Rearview Mirror can be switched on or off should the buyer prefer to use the conventional mirror, it does offer an interesting and unobstructed wide-angle view of the rear. (2)

The automaker is using a 1.3 megapixel camera (2) with a 4:1 aspect ratio that will display a clear rearview image without having to see the obstacles behind the driver, such as aspects of the car and/or the passengers seated in the back. (1) It also takes into consideration the weather and lighting, again displaying a clear image for the driver regardless of the conditions. (2)

"Smart Rearview Mirror will give our customers the best possible view no matter how tall the passengers in the back seat or how bad the road conditions," mentions Andy Palmer, Chief Planning Officer and Executive Vice President of Nissan in a statement. Sunrise and sunset are also taken into consideration, along with the glare of another driver's headlights. (1)

The Smart Rearview Mirror will be available in Japan before the automaker introduces the technology in other global markets. For now, buyers interested in Nissan products such as the new 2014 Rogue, can contact their Nissan dealerships in Tampa, Fla. for more information. (1)
