LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A 19-year-old
was killed and his 25-year-old sister suffered a gunshot wound to the face during
a shooting near a day care Monday morning, according to Louisville Metro Police.
LMPD spokeswoman Officer
Carey Klain said the shooting was reported at 10:50 a.m. at the Willow Creek
Apartments in the 5200 block of Shepherdsville Road.
Neighbors said they heard
the gun shots ring out.
"Just boom, boom,
boom," said one woman who didn't want her identity revealed. "The bullets could have traveled through the whole apartment,
I got children in there."
Klain said police are
looking for a man in his early 20s with braids in connection with the
suspect is possibly domestic related, but again the female is unable to speak
and we don't have any actual witnesses we are just trying to verify that,"
Neighbors said the
shooter and the woman who was shot had been in a relationship. People who knew
her, said he was trouble. They said he recently set the woman's mother's
vehicle on fire in the parking lot.
telling a friend of mines, ‘oh Lord, I hope he don't come here and set the
building on fire,'" said another woman whose identity is being withheld.
me that he was sending her threatening text messages and then I guess it lead
up to this," a neighbor said.
The woman was
taken to University of Louisville Hospital for treatment. A
toddler was also found unharmed in the apartment.
Police have not
said if the suspect fled on foot or in a vehicle. Anyone with any information in
