Changes to the Charles Ford Memorial Home

NEW HARMONY, IN (WFIE) - An assisted living home is getting a makeover in Posey County.

Charles Ford Memorial Home, located in New Harmony, was built more than 100 years ago.

It will be getting a sprinkler system, a new nurse call system, and geo-fencing technology.

The administrator, Amy Koch, says geo-fencing helps monitor the residents who tend to wander.

The residents will also be getting personal kitchenettes and showers in their rooms.

Koch says, "we have this beautiful historic treasure that we never want to let go of in this history so making those things current and safe and comfortable is a delicate dance but that is what we are doing. I am really excited about it."

Koch says a company was inside the Ford Home today preparing to install the sprinkler systems.
