MIDDLESBORO, KY (WAVE) - Just days after taking a bite to the hand from a six foot long rattlesnake a Middlesboro, KY pastor is back in church and says he's ready to handle snakes, again.

Cody Coots took a bite to his hand on May 25. He said he knew he'd be okay once people started praying for him. Jamie Coots, Cody's father, died earlier this year after refusing treatment for a bite. However, the younger Coots said he's been bitten six times and not once has he received any type of medical treatment.

"Even though I'm snake bitten, I'm hurting pretty bad right now, I still wanted to be at church," said Coots. "Ya know, I'm the pastor, I'm supposed to be here so I'm not dead I figure I might as well be here."

Coots does have a permit to possess poisonous snakes. According to Kentucky law, it's illegal to handle them.
