(RNN) - Federal officials arrested and charged another man in connection with the Boston Marathon Bombing.

Khairullozon Matanov, 23, of Quincy, MA is charged with making false statements in a federal terrorism investigation. A federal grand jury indicted him on destroying, altering and falsifying records, according to the Boston Globe.

Matanov will appear in court later Friday.

A legal resident of the U.S., Matanov is originally from Kyrgyzstan, and is not accused of participating in the bombings or knowing about the plot in advance.

Matanov spoke to the brothers after the bombings, and went to dinner with them the night of the bombing. Matanov also tried contacting them after he saw the Tsarnaevs identified as suspects through the news, prosecutors told the Associated Press.

He also allegedly deleted information from his computer, and lied to investigators about his friendship with the Tsarnaevs.

Three people were killed and more than 260 people were injured when Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev placed two pressure cookers explosive devices near the finish line of the marathon in 2013.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev was killed in a police gun fight. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev will be tried in federal court, and may face the death penalty. He has pleaded not guilty to the multiple charges against him.
