LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A woman hid in a bedroom after two men broke into her home in Louisville's Bon Air neighborhood Wednesday morning.

Wendy Carlin has lived here for 30 years. Her dog alerted her something was going on a few doors down.

"It was very scary," said Carlin. "I am not used to guns. Just to come out and see police men with their guns pulled."

Police say just before 11 a.m. Wednesday morning a neighbor noticed two men wandering in the yard next door. Not long after the two suspects broke a window and entered the home where a 61 year old woman was by herself inside.

Her husband, who did not want to go on camera tells WAVE 3 News, she was able to hide in a back bedroom and call police as the suspects rummaged through their home.

Sixth division officers were already on their way after receiving a call from the neighbor. They surrounded the house with the two men inside.

"I was very impressed with the police," said Carlin. "They were sharp, they were on it, they were confident, they were calm."

Police used a K9 to capture the suspects later identified as Quincy Dunn and Montez Johnson.

"Our hero the dog," said Carlin.

Block Watch Captain D.A. Murrell says their neighborhood association is very active.

"We have people at each block during the day, afternoon, and at night are on the look for people who really don’t live in this area," said Murrell.

In this case, it stopped a crime and prevented anyone from getting hurt.

"Everybody in here knows each other and everybody in here cares about each other, so we all look out for each other," said Murrell.

Dunn and Johnson are both charged with second degree burglary. One of the suspects was bitten by the K9 in the arm and treated at the scene.
