Edwards County, Illinois has launched a new reverse 911 calling system.
Residents sign up and when something happens, they receive a call or a text.
The system will notify residents about weather warnings, missing persons and crime alerts. Any important information that law enforcement sends out.
"As far as notifications all they can rely on is television or radio and in the middle of the night, that doesn't do much good if everyone's asleep. With this system, it'll call them immediately all hours of the day and night," said John Griswold, 911 Coordinator.
Since last Saturday, more than 2,000 people have signed up.
