Some Union County residents are upset because a lake used for fishing and boating is set to be drained.
A levee on the north end of Sturgis Airport Lake needs some repairs to a drain pipe to keep a neighboring property from flooding.
People who use the lake say it's a great place to bring family to boat and fish.
"This has a certain convenience to it. You can drive straight into it and within a matter of 25 to 30 feet, you've got your vehicle and you can move your picnic basket and your fishing equipment," said Ernest Green, Henderson.
The lake is also the main source of water for the adjacent Elkwood Golf Course.
There is no word on when or if the lake will be refilled.
