SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

The Smith County Sheriff's Office has announced that Smith County Precinct 1 Deputy Constable Steven Murry died on Monday after suffering a "massive" heart attack at home.

Murry was taken to a Tyler hospital, but died after multiple attempts to resuscitate him failed.

Murry had been with the constable's office for more than seven years, and spent part of his time in that office as a K-9 officer. His co-workers tell KLTV 7 that Murry had three adult sons, and that he was a military veteran. They also tell us that his family was with him when he died.
