FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) -

Memorial Day that's being commemorated on Monday remembers the nation's fallen soldiers.

About six months from now, a Northern Kentucky marathon will take place a few days after Veterans Day (Nov. 11) to raise money for a local veterans group.

The Honor Run Half Marathon and two-person relay is Nov. 15.

The event begins at 7 a.m. and will start and finish under the Florence Y'All water tower at Florence Mall.

Proceeds from the event benefit Honor Flight Tri-State that sends local veterans who have served in World War II and Korea to Washington to visit their memorials.

All race participants will receive a virtual goody bag with discount coupons to area restaurants and businesses, a race T-shirt, a custom finisher's medal, and post race food and drinks.
