BOONVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Former Boonville Middle School teacher Andrew Emmons has been sentenced to seven years probation.

Emmons was accused of hiding a camera in the school and was facing 42 felony counts, including voyeurism and child exploitation.

He must also serve 18 weekends in the Warrick County jail.  He will also continue receiving treatment for his sex addiction.

For the first time, Andrew Emmons had look at his victims and tell them that he shattered their trust.

It was standing room only today as the victims, many of them young teenage girls, listened to Andrew apologize to them.

Emmons told the court that his apologies do not fix mistakes or diminish the impact his actions have made.

He explained that he carries an enormous amount of shame and guilt for the suffering he has caused.

Just before the judge read the sentence he told the victims that they needed to 'move on.'

Emmons changed his plea in April and admitted to charges of attempted child exploitation and voyeurism.

He was originally charged with 16 counts of child exploitation and ten counts of voyeurism after a recording device was found in a Boonville Middle School staff bathroom.

One of the faculty members recorded by Emmons' told him in court today she has forgiven him.

Others say they will never be able to forgive or forget the torment, the humiliation, and the anxiety.

Several victims told Judge David O. Kelley they are still uncomfortable using public rest rooms.

Some family members believe today's sentence wasn't tough enough.
