FORT THOMAS, KY (FOX19) -

A second victim has succumbed to his injuries one week after a Fort Thomas crash.

78-year-old Robert Cowie died on Wednesday from injuries he sustained in a May 14 accident. Cowie's grandson, 21-year-old Randy Runyan, was driving the car and was pronounced dead shortly after the crash. Runyan was the 2011 valedictorian of Highlands High School.

Runyan turned from West Southgate Avenue onto southbound Memorial Parkway when he was struck by a pickup truck, according to police. The driver and the passenger of the truck were not seriously injured.

Authorities said the accident is still under investigation.
