Mayors Mike Moore of Jeffersonville and Greg Fischer of Louisville cut the ribbon to open the Big Four Bridge.
Walkers take to the fully opened bridge to cross the Ohio River.
JEFFERSONVILLE, IN (WAVE) - After years of anticipation, the Big Four Bridge has opened to foot, stroller and bicycle traffic Tuesday afternoon following a ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by the mayors of Jeffersonville and Louisville.
The opening, which came just one day after INDOT signed off on handrail ramp lighting deeming the Jeffersonville approach complete, served as a perfect birthday present for Mayor Mike Moore, who turned 50.
While the avid bikers were excited to now take their pedal power across the Ohio River, they shared a new concern.
"I think it would be really crowded to tell you the truth," said Lamon.
"Follow the rules, like the bikes are supposed to be in the middle and people walking are supposed to be on each side," said Watkins. "They turn around and look at us like, 'why are you blowing at me?'."
