KU has determined the reason why the lights went out for thousands of its customers in western Kentucky.
A spokesperson tells 14 News that a static line fell onto a transmission line, causing the power outage.
KU says all power was restored shortly after 3:30 Tuesday morning.
At the height of the outage, an estimated 17,000 KU customers were without power in Hopkins, Muhlenberg, McLean, Caldwell and Christian Counties.
