Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Is Louisville the new Seattle? A resurgence in the local music scene has fans excited.

WAVE 3 News spent the weekend out on the town checking out just how many different bands and venues there are to choose from these days. We were blown away with just how much of a music hot spot the city has become.

WFPK radio personality Marion Dries hosted the season kickoff for the Back Porch Sessions at Rye restaurant. She said the music scene has always been strong. But Dries it's getting back to a level not seen in decades.

"Things like this are springing up all over the place," Dries said. "And it is just feeding an amazing musical genesis that's here in Louisville that's almost like what we experienced out in Seattle back in the early 1990's."

We also caught up with Sean Bailey, the man behind popular blog Louisville Music Culture.  What does he think is driving Louisville's musical success? See and hear the rest of our musical journey Tuesday night at 11pm on WAVE 3 News after The Voice finale.
