LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A group is calling for the release of four men accused of robbery, two of whom were also charged in connection to a beating in Waterfront Park.
Calling them the "Misidentified Four," the Kentucky Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression and the Louisville chapter of the National Action Group say the men charged did not commit the crimes of which they're accused.
Craig Dean, Jerron Bush, Shaquazz Allen and Tyrone Booker were charged with first degree robbery in March after police said they pointed a gun at a woman's head at a bus stop, took her purse and then ran away up 39th Street.
Allen and Booker are also charged with knocking a mother unconscious on the same night when a group of teens stormed through downtown in a wave of violence.
At the rally, supporters said they could not have committed the crimes.
"Cell phone records, Sprint cell phone records, conclude that these young men were not at the scene at the time of these crimes were committed," said supporter Kathleen Parks. "They were visiting their cousin in West Louisville on 39th and Market Street."
Supporters said none of the men have been convicted of previous offenses and two were about to graduate from high school.
Metro Police said it would be inappropriate to comment on a case while the charges are still pending, but more information will come out in court.
