An Evansville church holds its second annual Celebration of God and Country event on Sunday.
The guests of honor were local veterans.
The celebration was held at St. John's East United Church Of Christ.
It included an appearance by Rolling Thunder, a group that is looking for a full accounting of all POW/MIA's, an outdoor service and a picnic.
One of the event organizers says she wants her church community to recognize the veterans and she thinks this event will remind them to do just that.
"I hope they were honored. I saw some salute as their service was called. I saw a few of them kind of look and nod at each other so I am hoping that they felt honored through that," said Ginger Schaperjohn, event organizer.
Schaperjohn says she hopes the event will be even bigger next year.
