KSP honors Post 2 Officers

MADISONVILLE, KY (WFIE) -

The Kentucky State Police honors several officers from Post 2 in Madisonville at an awards ceremony.

Trooper Ryan Fox was presented with the KSP Citation for Bravery.  Fox received the honor after an officer-involved shooting in 2011 in Hanson, Kentucky. Officials say Fox was wounded by gunfire along with two other officers.  Even though he was wounded, Fox was one of three officers to return fire, killing the suspect.  Trooper Fox is a five-year veteran of the KSP.

Lieutenant Jason Newby was presented with the KSP Citation for Meritorious Services with "V" Device for Valor.  The KSP says this honor is bestowed upon officers who distinguish themselves by an act of courage performed under more than ordinary circumstances. Lt. Newby is a 14-year-veteran of the KSP.

Trooper Jonathan McGehee was named Post 2's Trooper of the Year. The KSP says, during 2013, Trooper McGehee issued 890 citations, responded to 418 complaints, investigated 31 motor vehicle collisions, arrested 72 impaired drivers, and made 329 criminal arrests.  Trooper McGehee has been with the KSP for three-and-a-half years.

Detective Matthew Foster was named Post 2's Detective of the year. The KSP says, during 2013, Detective Foster opened 21 criminal cases and made 64 criminal arrests. Detective Foster is an eight-year veteran of the KSP.
