The city of Owensboro is looking at ways to provide ambulance service. Owensboro Fire Chief Steve Mitchell presented the results of an ambulance study to the city commission this afternoon. The study has eight different models the city could use to provide ambulance service in a few years. The models range from entering into an agreement with a private ambulance company to having private companies operate out of city fire stations. "We always want improvements. We want some type of enhanced system. We want the best possible cost effective means to provide services to customers. We want good response times," said Owensboro Fire Chief Steve Mitchell.
