LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - There are few things more frustrating than sitting in your home when your power is out, waiting for it to come back on and not knowing how long it might take.
LG&E is improving some of the technology helps communicate that information to customers.
If you haven't used the LG&E/KU/ODP power outage map, you might want to check it out.
The map is available both online and through a smartphone app, allowing customers to easily find the information they are looking for.
LG&E Media Relations Director Natasha Collins said, "This has become a critical tool for our customers, for our government partners, for emergency operations. We created it back in 2010 so that we could provide customers with outage information and information on restoration times so that they could they could make the critical decisions that they need to make."
The company announced changes to the maps Monday. In addition to outages the maps now feature a weather overlay and have been modified to be more mobile-friendly.
In addition to viewing power outages customers can also report them.
