U of L starting degree program in Pakistan

LOUISVILLE, KY (AP) - The University of Louisville's School of Public Health and Information Sciences is starting a master's program in Lahore, Pakistan. The program starts this fall.

U of L says it will offer Pakistanis the opportunity to earn a master of public health degree from an accredited U.S. institution without leaving the country.

Public Health and Information Sciences Dean Craig Blakely says in the last few years, Pakistan has had to deal with natural disasters.

Blakely says the country also has high infant and maternal mortality rates, poor water quality and other environmental problems.

The university says Louisville-based faculty and students will also benefit from the satellite program as it leads to teaching, service and research opportunities.
