Two historical markers are being dedicated later this month, one honoring a Revolutionary War officer in Morgantown and the other for an evangelist near Glasgow.
Morgantown was named for Daniel Morgan, who rose through the ranks of the military and as a brigadier general planned and carried out the British defeat at Cowpens, South Carolina, in 1781.
The Kentucky Historical Society will dedicate a marker to honor Morgan at 1 p.m. CDT May 24 at Main Street and City Hall.
A marker honoring Henry Clay Morrison will be dedicated at 10 a.m. CDT May 24 at Bristletown Road and Kentucky 63 in Barren County.
The Historical Society says Morrison was a pioneer of the Holiness movement and one of the country's foremost evangelists of his day.
