Hartford to begin $220,000 sidewalk project

DAVIESS CO., KY (WFIE) -

The city of Hartford recently wrapped up a $120,000 sidewalk rehabilitation project in downtown Hartford. The city is changing gears and focusing on another project.

The city plans to add sidewalks along both sides of East Union Street and replace aging, cracked, uneven sidewalks along Union Street and one side of Oakwood Drive.

The sidewalk along Oakwood Drive would connect to a bike trail that leads to Wayland Elementary School.

The $220,000 project is all paid for by a federal grant and Hartford Mayor Charlotte Hendricks says it's a safety issue.

The city plans to start tearing up the sidewalks in the fall and have the project completed before the end of the year.
