LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Kentucky Derby winner California Chrome returned to the Churchill Downs track just before 7 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

He jogged one mile, the wrong way, with exercise rider Willie Delgado along for the ride.

"He's back to normal, he came out of the race really good," Delgado said.

Afterwards, the Triple Crown threat returned to barn 20 for a bath and a few laps around shedrow.

He smiled for the cameras during his bath.

"Well first of all you just want to make sure he's sound, which he is, that's the main thing, and just make sure he's happy, feeling good," said assistant trainer Alan Sherman.

California Chrome will fly to Baltimore next week for the May 17 Preakness Stakes.

"We're shooting for Monday, but the plane is getting some maintenance on it, so it's either Monday or Wednesday," Sherman said. His father, Art Sherman, will meet the team at Pimlico.
