Evansville woman arrested for DUI after driving in median

VANDERBURGH CO., IN (WFIE) - An Evansville woman is arrested after a Indiana State Trooper sees her driving in the median of southbound US41 near Diamond Avenue.

The trooper says he smelled alcohol and marijuana when he approached the car.

A search of the vehicle turned up an open alcohol container, a smoking pipe and a small amount of marijuana.

State Police say further investigation revealed that the driver, 34-year-old Linda Raymichelle Jones, was under the influence of alcohol, marijuana and benzodiazepines.

Jones was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Her passenger, 29-year-old Kevin Merritt of Evansville, was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Vanderburgh County for failure to appear.
