A search warrant is executed on a home in Madisonville following a two-month investigation by the Madisonville Police Department Narcotics Unit, the U.S. Postal Services and postal inspector.

Madisonville Police say they obtained the warrant last Friday after suspicious packages were addressed to a home 1972 Brett Drive in Madisonville.

Detectives say 20-year-old John Tyson wouldn't answer the door and barricaded himself in a back bedroom.

After a brief negotiation, detectives say Tyson surrendered without incident.

Madisonville Police say they found nearly 2.5 pounds of marijuana, $2,164 in cash, and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking inside the home.

Tyson was charged with trafficking in marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, and resisting arrest. Police say he was also served with two outstanding arrest warrants.

Tyson is in the Hopkins County Detention Center on $10,000 cash bond.
