HOPKINSVILLE, KY (WFIE) -

14News has learned that Hopkins County attorney Todd P'Pool will no longer be representing Kentucky lawmaker Ben Waide in a lawsuit.

P'Pool says he has a conflict of interest.

Lori Oakley is a material witness in the lawsuit and P'Pool's family has used her as a personal accountant for more than 15 years.

Waide is being sued for allegedly misusing company finances for personal use and campaign finances.

"And I did not forsee this. This is not something that I entered the case thinking that we would be at this place. Clearly the accounting firm and accountant, my personal CPA for over 15 years, will be a central figure and material witness so that does prohibit me from proceeding in the case," said Todd P'Pool, attorney.

Attorney William Deatherage from Hopkinsville will take over as legal counsel for Ben Waide.
