JASPER, IN (WFIE) - The Jasper Common Council has requested that INDOT take another look at the construction of US 231.
The council says INDOT has one routine patchwork in the past, but now it's time for total reconstruction.
Councilman Randy Buchta says the large amount of traffic on 231 has worn down the highway.
"We're asking to try to get this thing fixed up, where it can last, you know, for a good ten to twenty years. I've lived here all of my life. I can honestly say this is the worst that 231 has been in. And I'm afraid that if we don't get something done now, it's gonna be major expenses to get it repaired," said Buchta.
INDOT says it will assess the highway and prioritize the proposed project.
