SANTA CLAUS, IN (WFIE) -

Holiday World opens Saturday with a new ride.

And 14News' Deanna Albrittin got to be one of the first to ride The Mayflower.

The swinging ship is in the Thanksgiving-themed area.

Park officials say a lot of research went into making the ride historically accurate and creating a ride that's better than most guests would expect.

"What you probably won't be expecting is just how intense it is.  It goes up 54 feet high, so it's really intense," Leah Koch, Director of Market Research.

The gates open at Holiday World at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

Splashin' Safari opens on May 16.
