BARDSTOWN, KY (WAVE) - More than 200 people sang, cried and prayed in memory of a Nelson County mother and daughter killed last week in a murder that's still unsolved.
Kathy and Samantha Netherland's neighbor organized the vigil, which the group held in front of the Nelson County courthouse in Bardstown.
People said they remained hopeful that police would find the Netherlands' killer using a recent lead -- a black Chevrolet Impala caught on surveillance video.
"I have faith in them. This will end soon," said Kyra Greenwell, who organized the event. "I think everybody's worried. We just want this to be over with."
People held candles and light blue and purple balloons, the Netherlands' favorite colors. Community members took turns at the microphone to sing and pray.
Many in the crowd wiped away tears during the vigil.
"It just breaks my heart to know it could happen," said Anna Mae Aldridge, who attended the event. "I hope this will bring the family peace."
Members of the Netherland family were at the vigil, but organizers told reporters not to interview them.
