POSEY CO., IN (WFIE) - A mock trial gives Posey County high school seniors a look inside the legal system.
Seniors from North Posey and Mount Vernon recited a recent case out of Utah.
It involved lunches being taken away from students who could not afford them.
Students were responsible for filling the roles of layers and witnesses.
A real judge and a real jury also sat in to help with the case.
"I think several students have got a lot out of it because we've had some go on to law school and are practicing law who have been through this program," said Jim Redwine, Posey County Circuit Court Judge.
"So far, I've learned a lot about how a trial proceeds, how witnesses are called to the stand, the role that a jury has in a court proceeding," said Olivia Goebel, high school senior.
This mock trial program is in its 29th year and, participants say, they hope it continues.
