Highway 54 yard sale is underway

The semi-annual highway 54 yard sale is underway in Western Kentucky.

The three-day bargain shopping event, which began Thursday, stretches 50 miles down highway 54 through Daviess, Ohio, and Grayson counties.

This year, over 80 yard sales are expected along the route.

Organizers say the event is designed to encourage tourism in small towns and give them an economic boost.

"We are trying to look for ways to bring visitors to our communities, who may not have otherwise visited our communities, and everyone likes to find good bargains," said Connie Mattingly, yard sale creator.

If you miss this sale, we're told there will be another highway 54 yard sale in September.
