The Florence Freedom won't be selling peanuts at their stadium this season.
"Due to the rising number of food allergies in our country today, we have decided to take a proactive approach in making our ballpark an entertainment option for all families, including those with food allergies," said Sarah H. Eichenberger, the Freedom's assistant general manager of marketing and promotions.
"The aim of this initiative is to reduce the food allergens in our ballpark while raising awareness and offering allergy-friendly alternatives."
The team said it will work closely with Enjoy Life Foods on creating graphic menu boards to educate fans on which products sold in the concession stands are allergy-friendly.
Opening night for the Freedom is 6:35 p.m. May 15.
