EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Evansville Police release new information regarding an officer-involved shooting.

The shooting happened earlier this month on the city's southeast side.

On Monday, Sgt. Jason Cullum said that they believe the suspect, Terry Daugherty, intended to commit suicide by cop.

Cullum says in this situation, the officers were meeting deadly force (suspect's knives) with deadly force (their guns).

The investigation is complete and police believe both officers acted reasonably.

Officer David Smith and Officer Aaron McCormick, both eight-year veterans of the force, are now back at work.

Police do not plan to release the officer's body cam videos because they are part of the criminal investigation.

There is no update on Daugherty's condition.

Police say the 44-year-old is facing charges of intimidation with a weapon, invasion of privacy and resisting law enforcement.
