The Green River Community Collaborations for Children (CCC) regional network is sponsoring a free one-day training for parents called "Creating Rubber Band Families."
The workshop is designed to help families deal with life's stresses, especially with children and financial matters.
"Many different stresses pull on today's families," said CCC coordinator Kelli King. "Our goal is to foster ‘rubber band families,' who are equipped to stretch without breaking when confronted with these pressures."
Some of the workshop topics include: financial fitness, managing stress, parenting preschoolers, talking to teenagers, substance abuse, and domestic violence.
There will also be a presentation on health insurance, with Kynectors on hand to help guide attendees through the enrollment process.
Educational resources will be available from numerous local agencies, including: Audubon Area Community Services, Green River District Health Department, Help Office of Owensboro, Housing Authority of Owensboro, Kentucky Career Center, Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service, Kentucky Department for Community Based Services, New Beginnings, Oasis Women's Shelter, Owensboro Regional Recovery, and GRADD.
This event will be held on Tuesday, April 29, at the H.L. Neblett Community Center (801 West 5th Street, Owensboro).
There will be two identical workshops, from 8 to 10:30 a.m. and from 3 to 5:30 p.m.
Refreshments will also be provided, and the first 50 individuals to register will receive a complimentary door prize.
To register call, 270-926-4422. Attendees are also welcome to register at the door on the day of the event.
